Understanding Comics

While reading Understanding Comics, I felt that there were aspects that can relate to the real world, and how the comic relates to my personal interests in art. That was one of the key aspects to understanding the premise, as well as learning what makes comics successful.
One of the parts of the comic that really resonated with me was the description on how we see the world as a part of ourselves. This way we can set emotions for ourselves, and identify with parts of the world that seemed impossible otherwise.
Overall the reading was a fun, and insightful description into the world of comics, and graphic design with commonly relatable aspects to storytelling.

Lit of Comics, and Media

Max Ernst - Translation:

(Panel 1) As a devil comes to a house incorporating the beginning of the end.
(Panel 2) A guardian figure stands before the sleeping girl, but in a distressed manner. (Possibly resembling death). Acceptance
(Panel 3) The guardian, and devil stand over a deceased woman, while another women in the nude stands to defend her. Bargaining
(Panel 4) The woman in nude faints of the horrific sights of the demons that stand before her.
(Panel 5) The anthropomorphic man animal mourns the death of the woman in the bedroom. Depression
(Panel 6) A man and woman attempt to escape the world for what is has become, or the man is being possessed like a puppet. Anger?
(Panel 7) Two women, and a chicken headed demon attempt to talk.
(Panel 8) Two women escape from a predator lurking in the hallways. Denial

The entire artbook comes off as a surrealist perception to the stages of death, The 5 Stages of Grief.

Many types of stories can tell their themes based on what they show in their art styles.
